Dear George,

I had previously made a comment on your open letter to Liz Cheney stating exactly how I disagree with you on specific points in your letter and what really matters for me as a lebanese regarding the whole actual situation there.
Please allow me now to reply to one of your readers who could be from my country and with whom I could possibly share same beliefs . To that "Anonymous" I say, Yes we do not agree with Mr Ajjan's opinions, but we respect different points of views and we value the differences. We have always had many views in Lebanon and we always will, it is about time now to learn how to argue not to attack others for the only reason that they say what we do not want to hear. What you wrote in your comment is greatly shameful and embarassing compared to the reasonable cause we are all writing about.
Dear George, it is very unfortunate to read such comments attacking your person no matter who you are and regardless of what you believe in. Please keep on expressing you ideas because through people like you we get to learn how to grow our critical thinking to be able to defend our beliefs and reasonably prove them.

lMr. Ajjan, and with all respect, you just sound like a member of the Arab Socialist Baath Party with a deep anger toward the country of Lebanon and some of its political icons. Your response to Liz Cheney was a very unprofessional one and such response would be expected to be addressed by one of the Arab Socialist Movement members and not by a respected republican activist.

Your anger wasn’t addressed to Ms. Cheney only; it was addressed to real Lebanese and anti-Syrian politicians. People like you prefer the worst type of governments by defending the Syrian regime in such a manner. I wonder what you know about Middle Eastern politics, not what Ms. Cheney does!!! You are one of those who claim knowing a lot about Middle Eastern politics but it seems that you just prefer the nasty intelligence Syrian regime that has tortured thousands of innocent people; men, kids and women. Shame on you for supporting and defending such regimes, shame on you! If you believe that you understand the politics of that specific region, let me tell you that you have missed a lot, and just stick to the simple American politics.

You deserve much kudos for your incisive response to Ms. Cheney's diatribe. Yes, unlike some double-standard flag-waving yahoos, we are proud of our American citizenship and are discerning enough to recognize when our great nation is following a policy of perdition. The blind "patriots" are the ideal fodder that feeds demagoguery and fascism.

As to Ms. Cheney's article, shame on the Washington Post for its bad taste. I guess in the absence of the name and perfunctory title, she couldn't have gotten even a local rag to carry her babble.

I read your blog twice and read hers too. Your writing simply reflects rage and anger. Very offensive to her person and dramatically morale. For me, as a reader who is not involved in any political game, you are trying to score points for the other team. I can definitely understand that political opinions change with time and interests and if the US is "supporting" the leb government today, they wont in few years from now, therefore Miss Cheney's opinion reflects the interests of her administration at the time being.

As a lebanese, I do not really care about that. I care about my country, to take advantage of any possible occasion and/or support we could get to just make Lebanon the good example. In all articles I read about Lebanon, it is always this person who is offending the other person, but never a solution, never a better way to react and interact with the situation and with each other.

That is exactly the point, that efforts by Ms. Cheney's "allies" to lobby Congress to support their very partisan agenda may derail aid to Lebanon, and destroy the opportunity to take advantage of American support, which is championed by the good efforts of the Arab-American members of Congress mentioned in my article.

As for me, I am concerned about America's well-being first and foremost and I don't see how the US is going to solve Lebanon's problems. I do not believe it is in American interests to get in the middle of these sectarian and dynastic power struggles that have been going on in Lebanon for decades, especially because our attempts to do so may further undermine America's credibility in the Middle East, where we are already too entangled.

Probably the most thorough analysis I've read about this subject in a long time. Although, and there's always an although, your average American has no clue about this subject...so Liz's fifth grade analysis is on the money (strictly from a marketing perspective of course!)

You are 100% right, which is why it is important for patriots on THE RIGHT to educate our own with sophisticated analyses (even if it goes over their heads), rather than let the likes of Michael Moore attack people like Liz Cheney with simplistic partisan rubbish, which will convince the average American that she is more correct and therefore continue to support bad policies not in America's best interests.
