This is business as usual. I can think of numerous other times when Congress has done the same thing. When they recently dealt with lobbying reform, they had Senators McCain & Feingold testify about the issue (the two men most responsible for the campaign finance disaster that we have right now). No member of Congress or the Senate should be allowed to testify before any committee or subcommittee. It must be banned. How can you have good public policy without credible outside perspective?

Thanks Joshua. Ghadry has practically zero credibility and represents an extemely small minority of opinion even within the Syrian opposition, yet he has gained access to congressional leaders by understanding the importance of campaign finance.

This should be a lesson to the wider community. The Arab-American mainstream needs to replicate these techniques.
